Fine French Revolutionary Walnut and Brass Desk Wax Seal

A fine French Revolutionary period desk seal, dating to the early 19th century, the turned walnut handle in a most excellent form with rounded top and waisted, tapering to a brass collar and oval matrix, engraved with  a central cartouche with the initials P.P. under a spear spear topped with a phrygian cap, surrounded by a pair of crossed laurel branches.

Nicely engraved but the more impressive part is that handle which is just lovely to hold and a departure from the normal inverted baluster form that pervades c90% of this period's seals.
