Early 19thC Wood & Steel Benedictine Priory Order St Mauri Desk Wax Seal

A steel, brass and wood desk seal dating to the 19th century relating to the Benedictine Order of St Maur based in Fecamp, France. The handle, of elongated rounded top form with slender tapering stem to a plain circular brass collar and tall steel circular matrix, engraved with the central image of St Bendict with the inscription alongside reading:
S. BENEDICTVS and the circumscription reading:
SIG. PRIOR. SS. TRINITATIS S.CONG. S. MAVRI within a lined border.
A seal relating to the congregation of St Maur, a division of the Benedictine Order which took its name from St Maurus, a follower of St Benedict in the 6th century. The Congregation was founded in 1621 and dissolved in 1818. The abbey at Fecamp was dedicated to the Trinity.
