Antique American Wood & Brass Desk Wax Seal - Grand Encampment of South Dakota

Seal Detail

A turned ebonised wood handle of flat-top, inverted baluster form, which tapers to a waisted band and a narrow brass collar with hatched bands.  The circular matrix is engraved with a central scene showing a tented village under an all-seeing eye with rays coming out of it.  There is also a circumscription within a beaded and lined border reading:

GRAND ENCAMPMENT OF SOUTH DAKOTA INSTITUTED AUG. 10. 1881.

This is a Pre-Union seal for the Grand Encampment of Dakota Chartered on June 11 , 1881 and Instituted August 10, 1881 - the date of this seal.
