19thC Jasper Armorial Pocket Wax Seal - Mary Queen of Scots - Cuninghame

Seal Detail

A fine and interesting jasper pocket seal, the integral handle of flat top form, the terminal engraved with the crest of a unicorn and motto, reading:

FORK OVER FORK

The crest and motto of the family Cuninghame of Ayshire, Scotland.  The tapering stem to a squared matrix,  engraved diagonally with arms and initials M.R, supposedly representing Mary, Queen of Scots and possibly relating the loyalty of the Cuninghame family to her cause.
