An early 19th century French wood and brass town desk seal, the handle of turned wood tapering to a brass collar and oval matrix, engraved with the central depiction of Marianne resting one hand on the fasces and in the other, holding a spear and phrygian cap  standing on a plinth engraved REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE with an inscription reading:

MUNICIPALITE D'AGNIERES DIST. D'AMIENS

A good example of a Revolutionary period French town seal from Amiens, a city in the northern region of France, in excellent condition.
