A fine and imposing tall desk stamp, the turned wood handle of pommel top form, tapering to a brass banded collar and oval brass integral matrix, well engraved with a central stylised image incorporating scales of justice and horn-of-plenty type image and inscription reading:

TONTINE PERPETUELLE D'AMORTISSEMENT

A 19th century French state stamp relating to the granting of a specific lifetime investment providing income during the lifetime of the holder which was popular within France to raise funds by the government.  In excellent condition save for loose handle/socket connection.
