19thC Continental Ecclesiastical Desk Seal St Andrew

Seal Detail

A Continental wood and brass desk seal, dating to the 19th century of ecclesiastical relevance, the handle of turned wood of baluster form, tapering stem to a high brass collar and integral oval matrix, engraved with a central figure holding a wooden cross, with a circumscription within lined border reading:

S.ANDREAS APOST. PATRONUS MORIARI *

A seal relating to Saint Andrew, the meaning being more sentimental in remembering the Saint rather than a link to a specific monastery, for example.
