18thC French Silver & Rootwood Armorial Desk Seal

Seal Detail

Well proportioned French desk seal, circa 1780, the turned rootwood handle of mushroom top form tapering to a silver collar and oval matrix, well engraved with a central armorial of a lion rampant below a royal coronet, two asymmetrical lion supporters with the Order of St Louis badge suspended beneath.  In excellent original condition.
