18thC Brass Bishop Armorial Desk Seal

Seal Detail

A fine and well engraved 18th century brass seal matrix, of circular form with the arms of Ioannes Baptista Lachenbauer together with the Catholic insignia indicating his position as Bishop, a position he held from 1787-1799 in the city of Brno, in the Czech Republic.  The inscription within a lined border reads:

IOANNES * BAPTISTA * LACHENBAUER * D: G: EPISCOPUS *  BRUNENSIS  

Well engraved and offered in superb condition with a faint outline of solder suggesting that it was originally fitted to a handle, or socket but later removed.
