A fine bronze mid 17th century French fob seal, the handle of simple raised rounded fin pierced with a suspension hole, to an integral round matrix, well engraved with a central quartered armorial shield and decoration and circumscription with a beaded border reading:

The personal seal for Jean-Baptiste BUDES, Comte de Guébriant (1602-1643) marshal of France, born at Plessis-Budes, near St Brieuc.
Budes was a prominent French military commander and Marshal of France, best known for his leadership during the Thirty Years' War, where he commanded French forces in Germany and secured several critical victories.
A fine seal in excellent original condition.
