Seal Detail

A silver seal matrix, maker's mark I.D, London, 1807, oval with pierced squared shaft, the matrix engraved with a coat of arms comprising crest, shield and motto:

NEC ULLO CASU ULLA INTERMISSIO OFFICII ("Under no circumstances should there be any interruption of duty")

The arms are those of Dyer quartering Reynold-Moreton.

The seal is that of Henry Moreton Dyer (1776-1841) a prominent judge of the Vice Admiralty Court in the Bahamas and a London magistrate.  His father, Mark Dyer married Anne, daughter of Charles Moreton, brother of Matthew, 1st Baron Ducie of Tortworth, Gloucestershire, who died in 1785.   

A number of silver smallworkers at this date used a maker's mark ID a pellet between in a rectangle of whom most likely is John Douglas.

A fine looking piece of hallmarked silver coupled with a good engraving of arms and history.
