Seal Detail

A fine example of a brass desk seal relating to the Paymaster General's Office purportedly dating to 1790-1810, the flattened seal with an engraved arrow decoration for positioning on the reverse, and the obverse finely engraved with a spread eagle centrally holding arrows and branch in its claws, with sun rays and stars surrounding and a circumscription within lined border reading:

PAYMASTER GENERAL'S OFFICE * U.S.A.*
