As with many of the seals within The Matrix Collection, they refer or are associated with a certain district of the UK. This is no more evident than the area known as The West Country which covers a number of counties such as Dorset, Wiltshire, Somerset, Devon and Cornwall. With such a wealth of history coming from all of these, our collection contain some real gems and when it came to finding a partner to work alongside with whom we could entrust these lots, our friends at Lawrences Auctioneers in Crewkerne was a natural fit. Situated within a range of interesting and historic premises in the centre of this quintessential Somerset market town, Lawrences are well placed with connections throughout the West Country. For those of you close enough (or keen enough!) they would be more than pleased to welcome you to preview the lots before the auction day on the 11th July.
Things You Should Know
With around 30 lots closely associated with this historical area, this auction should be fascinating to those who either have connections or simply like great seals. We have selected a wide range of interests for you ranging including the Justices of Devon legal seal, to commercial seals for the Plymouth, Devonport & South Western Junction Railway, the Bristol Sugar Refinery Company seal and a rare Bath Post Office seal. In contrast, we have some beautiful and fascinating armorial seals such as for the Sloggett family and the personal seal for John Francis Vasset.

I am particularly keen to be around to take part in all the excitement leading up to and including the sale itself and have arranged to be in Crewkerne for auction.
