A rare opportunity to own this fascinating hallmarked, English religious desk seal relating to the Archdeacon of Durham, Richard Prosser, upon his inauguration in 1808, the engraving featuring the arms of Durham under an angel with outstretched wings, and a circumscription within a border reading:
RICHARD PROSSER ARCHDEACON OF DURHAM 1808
The reverse is plain save a for a maker's mark D.L for Dorothy LANGLANDS, goldsmith and jeweller Dean Street, Newcastle. Widow of John Langlands II, she continued her late husband's business after his death in May 1804.
