Seal Detail

A most striking and unusual citrine and gem-set matrix desk seal, the handle of one piece citrine of elongated, faceted baluster form, the domed polygonal terminal above a broad, angular upper section, stepped at the shoulder and tapering through a slender, multi-faceted stem, narrowing towards a short, stepped foot. The circular gold mount is chased and engraved with foliate ornament, enriched by a series of small, regularly spaced, collet-set rubies around its perimeter. The integral matrix is finely engraved with a cypher, probably JRS, within a lined border. 

The rim of the matrix is stamped both 750 and HASE, the latter being the maker's mark.
