American Desk Seal of the Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia

A most impressive and highly collectible example of an American desk seal dating to 1810, made of brass and with a very attractive design engraved on the front featuring angel together with inscription and circumscription.

Seal Detail

Believed to be the seal of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in the US, founded in 1810, the date of this seal. It features a circular brass matrix with a central depiction of an angel with its open arms, standing on a ground with a motto reading:

ON EARTH PEACE, GOOD WILL TOWARDS MEN

and a circumscription within a lined border reading:
