A rather fine silver gilt figurine desk seal of a bowing gent with comical undertones standing on a silver gilt base set with semi-precious stones, the matrix engraved with initials.

What a little star this chap is!  This is an unusual silver gilt figurine desk seal fashioned in the form of a bowing gentleman standing on a rather impressive tapering engraved base, set with semi precious stones.  The gentlemen figure is in period costume, dating to the late 18th century - early 19th century with tails and wig, the slightly comical pose being attractive as he bends over in a bowing motion  with his tails riding high.  The fixing for the figurine has become slightly wobbly over time and although attached, may require soldering into a fixed position. At the base is a square bloodstone matrix with canted corners, engraved with the initials LC or CL.

With some inevitable wear to the gilt, this is nevertheless a lovely piece to have on a desk and worthy of serious consideration.
