THE ARCHDEACON MONTAGUE BLAMIRE WILLIAMSON WAX DESK SEAL
Seal Detail
A heavy steel wax seal dated 1924 for the Archdeacon of Bodmin. The vessica shaped steel matrix, of heavy form, has the matrix engraved in a typical style of central armorial escutcheon and crest and inscription within a lined a pelmet border, reading:
SEAL. OF. MONTACUTE. BLAMIRE. WILLIAMSON. ARCHDEACON. OF. BODMIN. 1924
The seal of Montacute Williamson 17 January 1863 – 20 February 1939 who was made Archdeacon in 1924 when this seal was created. He remained in post until his death in 1939. The reverse of the seal features two sets of stamps for the seal engravers, Bowles & Son 81 Berwick St. together with a screw-hole for a handle which has since become detached from the matrix.
