A fine and attractive 19th century gold mounted citrine armorial hand seal, the handle of faceted rounded top form with tapering faceted sides and pinned to a tall gold collar and integral rectangular with rounded corners cushion mount and citrine matrix with rounded faceted corners, well engraved with central arms, crest above and motto at base reading:

VIRESCIT. VULNERE. VIRTUS (Courage grows strong at a wound)

An elegant seal with arms comprising a gold armorial shield with a blue and silver chequered band across the middle (fess chequy). The crest above is of a  pelican in her nest feeding her young. 

In excellent condition.
