Pair of Small 18thC Continental Armorial Wax Seals

Seal Detail

A pair of small oval brass wax matrix seals, dating from the 18th century and originating on the Continent - likely Italian.  Both are single sided, without handles (although likely to have had handles at some point) and similar in size and style.  The oval engraved matrices comprise:

  1. A central armorial shield, under a male's bearded head, incorporating a goat standant, a tree in leaf under a spread-eagle bird with an inscription beneath reading: IO: BAPTISTADE. CAPRIS, within a beaded border.
  2. A central armorial shield, under a helm and crest, incorporating three chevrons under a rose with an inscription reading MARCH. I. EP. VRSINVS. within a beaded border.

An interesting pair of seals worthy of further research. Presented here in good condition save for some wear, commensurate with age.
