c1850 Antique Gold and Citrine Rotating Triple Fob Wax Seal - DODS family

Seal Detail

A stunning gold and citrine three way rotating fob seal dating to the mid 19th century, the highly ornate gold handle with suspension loop and framework holding the rotating triple matrices, each very well engraved with versions of the family armorials.  The first comprises a full achievement of arms including shield, crest and motto at base, reading:

DIVITIARUM INVIDIA COMES   

The second comprises a crest with initials AD within a belt engraved with the family motto.  The third comprises the family crest  within a belt engraved with the family motto.   

The seal belonged to Andrew Chalmers Dods of Upper Norwood (1840-87)
