FRENCH GRAND ORIENT DE FRANCE VESOUL UNITED HEARTS COEURS UNIS LODGE DESK SEAL
Seal Detail
A fine and unusual example of an early 19th century French bronze masonic desk seal, the handle of rounded top form, column stem terminating in a wide and deep bronze collar and integrated circular matrix, well engraved with central masonic devices of a set square and pair of dividers on a paved ground, amidst a plethora of floral decoration within a crossed rope border and an outer inscription reading:
LES COEURS UNIS A L'O: DE VESSOUL HAUTE SAONE
A seal for the masonic lodge of United Hearts, part of the Grand Orient of France structure based at Vesoul, in the department of Haute Saone - a lodge that is believed to be active to this day. This seal is a large, imposing example and displays some considerable wear during its history, especially on the collar and matrix rim. However, this does not detract from its appeal as a rare and desirable piece of French masonic history.
