Seal Detail

A beautiful gold mounted ceramic armorial desk seal, the handle of coloured Delf blue and painted ceramic of rounded top form, tapering stem to an elaborately engraved octagonal sectioned gold mount terminating to an octagonal chalcedony hardstone matrix, well engraved with an armorial comprising per pale shield, crest and motto, reading:

CONFIDO CONQUIESCO (I trust and am content)

A seal whose arms belong to the Tollemarche  and Seymour families, by marriage, later Duke of Somerset.  The seal requires further research to establish the exact member of the Tollemarche family and is presented in excellent condition.
