Seal Description
A fine 19th century gold mounted bloodstone armorial desk seal, the bloodstone handle of knopp-top form, facetted tapering stem to a reeded gold collar and rounded rectangular cushion mount, to a bloodstone matrix, finely engraved with a per pale armorial shield.
The arms are those of William Rashleigh (1777-1855), an English politician (MP for Cornwall) and landowner from co. Cornwall, owner of Menabilly House, a fine looking estate house that was of particular fascination to Daphne du Maurier who included it in her writings and even rented it for many years.
A fine looking armorial desk seal in excellent condition.
