Early 19thC Religious German St. Catharinae Parish Desk Seal
Seal Description
A 19th century Germanic wood and brass ecclesiastical desk seal, the handle of baluster formith evidence of ink stains to the rounded top and waisted stem, the brass collar and oval matrix, engraved with a central depiction of St. Catherine, in her glory, walking with sword in one hand and long floral branch in the other, with circumscription reading:
SIG ECCLAES S CATHARINAE PARDORFIENSAE
A parish seal for the church, although the exact place name (latin Pardorfiensis) has not yet been identified. Presented here in very good overall condition save for the historical ink staining and some historical staining/tarnish to the brass matrix, none of which seems to affect the wax impression.
