Late 18thC Fruitwood, Silver, Hardstone Crest Armorial - Evans, Barons Carbery
Seal Detail
A fine example of an Englsih fruitwood , silver and harstone desk seal, the handle of turned fruitwood of mushroom form, tapering to a silver cushion mount and oval deep yellow hardstone matrix, well engraved with a crest of a demi-lion, rampant, regardant between its paws a boar's head, couped, under a barons coronet. The crest is that of Evans for one of the Barons Carbery prior to 1807 (when the peerage was inherited by the Freke-Evans family.)
