An English Jewelled Gold, Agate, Mother-of-Pearl and Hardstone 'Hand' Wax Seal

A 19th century "hand" wax seal of grey striated agates, gold and hardstones with identified armorial and jewelled ring. 

Seal Detail

A superb mother-of-pearl hand with panelled agate and gold cuff, wearing on its little finger a turquoise bead-set ring, and is holding a reeded gold baton with two circular matrices in grey striated agate.  The rectangular matrix with rounded corners is of the same striated grey agate and well engraved with an armorial, crest and motto.  The armorial comprises central shield with a line of three choughs above a line of four fleur de lys, with crest above of chough holding fleur de lys in one claw.  The motto below reads:

DEUS PASCIT CORVOS (God feeds the ravens)

The seal belongs to a Cornish side of the Owen family and dates to c1850.
