Of unusual style of official seal is this 19th century Wismar wood and brass desk seal, the handle of baluster form with rounded top, tapering banded stem to a simple brass collar and circular matrix, engraved with the town arms of Wismar, with a stylised inscription within a lined border reading:

An official police seal for the town of Wismar, on the coast of the Baltic Sea and of particular note for its very fine medieval buildings!  The seal is presented in excellent condition.
