A 19th century Scottish crest badge desk seal, the ebony handle of typical balsuter form with tapering stem to a silver mount, with floral decoration in relief to a circular matrix, engraved with the crest of a swimming dolphin and outer motto within a belt and buckle border reading:
VIRTUTE NIHIL OBSTAT ET ARMIS (Nothing withstands valour and arms)
A seal for the Scottish family of Aitoune of Inchdairnie, of Fife, residents of the Inchdairnie House into the 19th century.
