Seal Detail

A fine 19th century English bloodstone desk seal, the handle of flat top form, with tapering, faceted sides to an integral cartouche shaped matrix, well and deeply engraved with a central armorial shield, below a crest of a swan on a cap of maintenance , with motto at base reading: 

SANS CHANGER

The seal of Henry Labouchere, 1st Baron Taunton (1798-1869), educate at Winchester and Oxford, and a distinguished political career in the Cabinet for the Whigs. He was elevated to the title, 1st Baron Taunton in 1859 after a full and eventful life. 

The seal is well engraved and is in excellent condition.
