A turned wood and steel desk seal, the handle of bulbous rounded form and oval steel matrix featuring a central image of a walking chicken with inscription and circumscription in unusual form reading GUSTAV WENIGE ZU GOTHA*ADVOK & NOTAR

This is an unusual type of notary seal from Gotha having a somewhat strange image of a chicken for some unknown reason in place of a more formal image as would be expected for a professional of his type. It has been suggested that he was a specific type of notary, dealing with matters agricultural.
