Seal Detail

A fascinating brass and wood desk seal, comprising a turned hardwood handle of rounded top form mated to a large brass oval matrix, well and deeply engraved with an enigmatic set of symbolic depictions, centered around the huge Sea of Bronze, of biblical note and supposedly holding 16,000 gallons of water.  The other engraved images include crossed swords, water ewer and smoking vase, under a blazing sun.  

The meaning of the matrix is not understood, especially with the number 4 within the rim of the Sea of Bronze vessel. However, it is indeed a fine and large seal and well engraved.
