Impressive Late 18thC French MONTBOZON Town Desk Seal

Seal Detail

A wood and brass desk seal of great proportions, dating to the late 18th century  and relating to the town of Montbozon in France.  The handle, of turned mahogany of rounded top form, tapering stem to a plain brass collar and large oval matrix, well engraved with a central depiction of the arms of the town of Montbozon under a royal coronet, decorative swags and an inscription reading:

MUNICIPALITE * DE * MONTBOZON 

Montbozon is a commune in the Haute-Saône department in the region of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, in eastern France.

The seal is presented in very good original condition, with good patina, save for an historic wood crack, as per the photos.
