Early 19C French Circa 1815 Restauration Desk Wax Seal

Seal Detail

This is a nice example of a wood and brass desk wax seal from the period circa 1815 when the Bourbon came back to the throne temporarily following Napoleon's first defeat. This seal prominently displays the pro-royalist sentiment with the legend: La Loire et le Roi with the inscription Departement de la Gironde with depictions of fleur de lis and crossed palm fronds. This seal was an official seal for the area of Gironde, south-west France.
