Seal Detail

An unusual and heavy steel desk seal, the handle of short, stubby form (and presumably the original rather than a later shortened cut-off), with fluted cushion to a large oval steel matrix, impressively engraved with a full and complex set of arms for a Continental Duke, including multi-field shield, ducal coronet and crest featuring a bat with wings outstretched, mantling with floral decoration within a decorative border.

A rare opportunity to find such an interesting and complex armorial wit the addition of a bat crest!
