Seal Detail

Fine turned wood and brass desk seal from the Belgium region of Hainaut dating to circa 1830 following the 1830 Belgium Revolution.  The handle of turned hardwood of organ stopper form tapering to high brass banded collar and integral circular matrix, engraved with  lion standant below a motto:

L'UNION FAIT LA FORCE ( The Union Makes Strength)

and an inscription reading:

JUSTICE DE PAIX DU CANTON DE TEMPLEUVE HAINAUT

A seal relating to the local Justice of the Peace for the town of Templeuve in the region of Hainaut post 1830 Belgium Revolution.
