Yellow Metal Double Fob Seal and Suspension Chain Set
Seal Detail
A 19th Century set of twin gilt fobs on a split ring attached to an intricately decorated bracelet of three strands of gold link, with a collar guide midway and the end finished in a suspension loop with split ring. The two fobs are similar in design but not identical. The first is gilt metal with decorated handle and mount adorned with floral pattern, with a rectangular uncut carnelian matrix. The second is similarly adorned with a decoration to the handle and mount, and the rectangular matrix is cut with crest and initials G.B.C.
The gilt metal does not appear to be stamped and is not only very attractive to the eye but is highly tactile and would have originally been worn maybe as a chatelain, in any case a very attractive set.
The condition is excellent, with the notable exception of a possible repair which has resulted in some solder being evident to the ends of the chain, providing a more secure fixing.
