Seal Detail

A superb example of a brass desk seal modelled in the form of an anatomically accurate human arm and hand, dating to around the end of the 18th century and terminating in an oval copper matrix, engraved with the arms of Filippo Maria Visconti, the Archbishop of Milan who was appointed on the 25 June 1784 and who died 30 December 1801 in Lyon and whose final resting place is the Cathedral of Milan.
