An English Gold-Mounted Hardstone Desk Seal

A wonderful combination of striated agate and decorative gold make this a superb collectable desk seal, made in England at the end of the 19th century.

The distinctive looking seal is overlaid with a scallop-edged cap decorated around the border in Antique taste with applied wirework scrolling, the body of banded agate in tones of brown, the handle of tapering faceted form with incurved collar, the integral circular matrix engraved in gothic letters with initials: HDH
