18thC Silver, Brass and Wood Continental Armorial Desk Seal
Seal Detail
A fine example of an early 18th century armorial desk seal, the handle of inverted baluster form and mushroom top, tapering to a plain brass collar and oval silver matrix, well engraved with a quartered shield under a crested helm and exuberant mantling. The quality of the engraving is most excellent and fine, although at present the original owner's armorials have not yet been researched.
In excellent condition save for a loose connection between matrix spike and handle which requires some affixing.
