A charming and simple wood and silver desk seal, with a beautiful sentimental message.  The handle of inverted baluster form, tapering stem to a silver collar and integrated oval matrix, engraved with a heart at centra, with initials either side, sun above and cross below, with a n inscription within a beaded border, reading:

SPES  MEA : DEVS - God is my hope

A simple message but one that was popular since medieval times when the omni-presence of God was reflected in personal items so as to remember it. Presented in excellent condition with patina and some signs of historical use.
