1737 French Frances de Sales Religious Desk Seal Socket

Seal Detail

An 18th century religious themed brass seal socket matrix, probably French in origin.  The socket, without handle, has a tall collar which is unusually dated 1737 in period font, the oval matrix engraved with a central depiction of Christ's crucifixion with a character, at the base, on their knees praying (presumably his mother, Mary). An inscription reads:

SIG.SOR.3.O.S.F.CONG.ROT .

A seal relating to the monastery of St Francis de Sales monks at Rot. (Rotterdam?).
